Dr. M.N. Freeman was President of Concord College from 1976-85. He came to Concord from the presidency of Black Hills State College in Western South Dakota. Dr. Freeman started in public higher education in 1955, having served in various professional ranks and in administrative positions.
He is a native of Missouri, and earned the B.S. degree from Southeast Missouri State University, and the M.Ed. and Ed.D. degree from the University of Missouri.
Prior to entering higher education he served in various public school positions in Missouri ranging from teacher of a one-room school to superintendent of schools. This public school experience was interrupted by four years of service in the U.S. Army, Infantry, during World War II.
